Ruby Pinkston, age 80, longtime Ogallala resident, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. Ruby was born March 14, 1928 in rural Garden County, NE, the daughter of Hans and Mildred Goodro Noetzelman. Ruby attended school in Lewellen. She and her siblings and friends spent a lot of time fishing and playing in the river near their home. Ruby met Warren Pinkston while in school and they were married in 1945. The couple made their home in Scottsbluff for a short time. Warren enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA where they resided. Ruby returned to Lewellen and worked as a waitress while Warren served in the Philippines. After he was discharged they lived in Lewellen for a short time before moving to Ogallala. Ruby was employed at TRW for thirty one years and also worked part time for Hilltop Inn. She also worked for St. Pauls Lutheran Pre-School and Pioneer Trails Coffee Shop. Mrs. Pinkston was a member of First Congregational, United Church of Christ, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose. Her hobbies included camping, fishing, gardening, canning, and she loved watching the birds and outdoor life. Preceding her in death by her husband Warren, two sisters Rita Douglass and Ruth Marlene Taylor, and two brothers Robert Noetzelman and Roy "Pete" Noetzelman. Survivors include her daughter Sheila and husband John Turner of Ogallala; her sister Rachel Schwartzkopf of Cheyenne, WY; her granddaughter Michelle and husband Paul Bauer of Coppell, TX and four great-grandchildren. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. The casket will not be open. Funeral Service will be Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Ogallala First Congregational, United Church of Christ with Rev. Laurie Heidenreich officiating. Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the First Congregational, United Church of Christ and to the Perkins County Animal Shelter.
