Orville L. McVay , 82, passed away at his home in Ashland on July 3, 2010. He was born July 19, 1927, in Ogallala to Lawson and Frieda (Sauer) McVay . Orville served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and was honorably discharged in 1947. Orville worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy McVay , of North Platte; sons and daughters-in-law, John McVay , of Omaha, Jim and Barbara McVay , of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Tom and Theora McVay , of Ashland, and Jeff McVay , of Omaha; six grandsons; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Bob McVay , of Denver, Colo., Alvin (Trudy) McVay , of Sterling, Colo., Marvin (Pam) McVay , of Denver, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Richard McVay . Services will be Thursday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, North Platte with the Rev. Robert Deardoff officiating. Interment will be Thursday, 3 p.m. (MDT) at the Ogallala Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
